Youth Connections
Are you interested in helping a youth in need?
Have you ever wanted to help a youth in crisis? Consider becoming a Host Home! Host Homes is a network of trained, volunteer families who provide temporary shelter, for a maximum of 14 days, to a youth in crisis. This shelter care is a voluntary program on behalf of the youth, the youth's parent or parents and the host family. Any youth needing emergency shelter age 7-17 (or still in school) can use Host Homes. The program coordinator will work with the youth and family to help ease tensions going on with the family. This temporary placement provides families with time to resolve conflict and problems. Host children are placed with a home for as short as an overnight stay to as long as 2 weeks. Most Host Families host about 1 to 3 youth in a 12 month period.
If you are a family who is willing to open your doors and hearts to a youth in need, please contact Kristi Tucker, Safe Place/Host Home Coordinator at Youth Connections.

Tutor For The Future
Come be a part of a program that is helping GMS students succeed. Several days a week you will find parent tutors in GMS study halls helping all age students study for tests, work on study guides or just do homework. The students appreciate the help and the parents feel rewarded for being there. Being in the building once a week really makes you a part of what's going on. If you are interested in giving a couple of hours a week to this successful program please contact Kris Hoopingarner at 887-3126.
